Darryl Sollerh began his working life in high school, gaining employment in both the electronic repairs and construction to support himself through college. After graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Romantic Literature, Sollerh accepted an offer to teach High School English Honors and senior Ethics classes at a leading westside school. His deep interest in individual learning modalities eventually led him to create and run a successful tutorial service, serving a wide range of students from every walk of life. Based on his conviction that modern education was failing too many students, Sollerh went on to design, build and lead two Middle/High Schools, uniquely providing a combination of both individual and group instruction to support student learning differences and emotional development. Along the way, he also authored six award-winning novellas and two well received parenting guides, based on his years of working with students and parents. Having spent nearly 30 years in nonprofit education and organizations, joining UCHA was a natural step for Sollerh in his lifelong dedication to applying his knowledge, skills and experience in service of students pursuing their passions, and who might not otherwise be able to attend college were it not for the Coop.
