The Board of Directors (BoD)

UCHA is governed by and for its members, with every major decision determined by a board of member directors (BOD) democratically elected by their peers each quarter. Any member, including yourself, can run for a board position, which covers your chore shift and part of your rent. Board officers who aren’t doing their jobs can be recalled through a membership petition.

At weekly public board meetings, 7 elected officers (5 over the summer) get together to pass the UCHA budget, hire and evaluate the Executive Director, handle legally sensitive disputes, develop association-wide policy, oversee crew chiefs, hear member judicial appeals, make member expulsion decisions, and more. 

Some overarching Board responsibilities include: responding to emergent issues, identifying structural and systemic issues at UCHA, drafting and submitting proposals to address issues, working with crews to solve problems, fundraising for UCHA, initiating creating sub-committees to tackle relevant issues, and meeting with crew chiefs assigned to liaise and write report on each meeting.

When to meet with us:

We hold our regular weekly public meetings on Thursdays at 7pm in the HHH lobby, where you can come to discuss any comment or concern with us publically. If you have been summoned to the BOD, need to appeal to us, or would like to share something privately, please come join the BOD executive meeting which takes place directly after the public meetings on Thursdays from about 9:30-11pm in HHH Room 200.
